Joan Alonso, known artistically and popularly as “La Bocas,” has been the characterizer and creator of all the looks for the characters of La Cubana since 1983, both in theater and on television.
Apart from La Cubana, he has been one of the best makeup artists in the country over the last fifty years. He has collaborated on films such as “Love Seriously Harms Health” (1996, directed by Gómez Pereira), “Karnabal” (1985, by Los Comediants), and “Souvenir” (1994, by Rosa Vergés). On television, he has worked on shows like “La Parodia Nacional” and “Teveo de Noche.” In the advertising field, he has created the characterization for numerous advertising campaigns, notably the different seasons of the Freixenet commercials. He has also been a mentor to many professionals who have gained fame in the world of characterization.
For La Cubana, his passing is a significant and irreparable loss, as he has been the creator of a universe of characters in every one of the company’s shows since 1983. From the beloved Teresinas to Estrellita Verdiales and the peculiar characters in “Cegada de Amor” not to mention the endearing characterizations he brought to “Cómeme el Coco, Negro”
